iEARN Conducts Workshop in Yemen

Earlier this month, a pioneering workshop was held in Sana'a, Yemen by iEARN to introduce to secondary school teachers how they can apply the connective power of the Internet and other technologies to their classroom curriculum subjects. "It was wonderful to see the enthusiasm of the teachers as they interacted in the iEARN online forums--sending and receiving messages in English and Arabic to other educators around the world," noted Eliane Metni, iEARN-Lebanon Coordinator and workshop trainer in Sana'a.
The iEARN workshop, sponsored by the Education Development Center (EDC) and funded by USAID, was opened by Dr. Toufick Soufian and the Director General and other officials of the Ministry of Education.
The workshop activities were engaging and interactive, with experiential learning, online project project planning and WWw-based forum interaction. This workshop will be followed by a nine-week online course in Arabic to give additional instruction and interaction on how to integrate connective technologies into the curriculum.
