Open Source and ICT Project

We want to develop Open Source between Students, Teachers and Schools. If we want to edit a picture as professional user often we use Adobe Photoshop. If we want to make a presentation, type a letter or ...we often use Microsoft Office. These programs are not cheap, plus we pay for Microsoft Windows as an Operating system. But Open Source Software is free to use, changing the source code, copying and many more options are avaliable. Here in this project we use LINUX as mother of Open source softwares, PHP for Web Programming and MySQL as Database. We make some open and free softwares. What do you need? A program for word proccessing like microsoft word? A program for image proccessing like Adobe Photoshop? Or a program for application programming and web programming like Delphi, VisualBasic or microsoft FrontPage? All of them are free and open in Linux.

Web Programming and Networking are our focuses. One of our main goals is Recycling Old Computers to launch a very powerful Local Area Network in our school or home. The students have learned to work with Linux and some other open source software also networks and now they are divided to different groups: Research, Networking, Web and Open Source. They are ready to start and work on this project. Some students are as teachers, they will teach other students about what they've known and learned. This is a student-to-student course and is about Web and Networking by using Open Source. In our world, old computers are extra. By a plan we can reuse them and build a LAN in our school or home. No money is needed for operating system, software, hardware and so on. Just pay for a simple LAN Card. By using open source software and old computers you can launch a very powerful LAN with your own hands. Web, is a place to share information in this project.

http://isfahan.schoolnet.ir/ict is a website we designed for this and other projects. It's an e-Club in which you find News, Forum, Online courses, Download section and many more. Each group of students work on a section of project. We would be so glad if you could join us in this project too.
