The
idea behind this, originally Dutch, project is to work and learn with
pupils on the question "What can I do, as an individual student,
to contribute to the safety in my school." In the Netherlands
there¹s a lot of attention on safety in schools, but we noticed solutions
always had to be realised by someone else.. Police, local government,
parents etcŠ My safe school is like an attitudeŠ an ongoing process:
"Yes, I can make a contribution to the safety in my school".
The project provides
a work schedule, teacher guidelines and Internet-based support, and
provides pupils the possibility to express themselves on safety. Pupils
in a class promise to contribute and 4 weeks later they report about
their experiences; success and failures. Safety really becomes something
very close to me and you and you and you. And "school" for
us also includes travelling between home and school (streets and traffic),
human behaviour (respect for all), safety precautions (fire drills)
and whatever you believe is related to safety in your school.
