Happy New Year Project

Happy New Year Message from Naren Solanke and his 5th grade students from Lions Vidyaniketan Washim School in India.

Every countries/cultures has their own New Year date(s); they also have their unique way to celebrate. We would like to share this project to know different New Year cultures, and make everyone a “Happy New Year!” 1. For Motivation and warm up: participators should sent a “Happy New Year!” character file in *.JPG format with its pronunciation in *.wav format, sample files can be downloaded and modified. 2. For cultural understanding: Classes can begin to gather custom and tradition information and share with other classes of different countries/cultures. The activities can involve at least with IT, Geography, History and Culture, Foods, Charity activities, New Year resolutions (or new wishes) list and even Natural Science (weather, flowers, animals and ecosystem) 3. For showing love and care to others: Sharing how people in different countries and cultures show their love and care to others in New Year time, then take actions to show our love and care.

Elementary schools focus on “what we do”, gather and share online and/or real-live information on New Year activities. Junior high or middle schools on “How we do”, focus on one or two of the New Year activities with pictures and/or videos with detail text description. Senior high schools on “why we do”, focus on more details of New Year activities with more description on why (the meaning) and how (procedure demonstration) people doing those activities. Web pages publishing are recommended and/or online presentation to other participators can be arranged in the future. Students will discuss within classes and forum and take actions that show their love and care to people, both to participators and poor peoples in their own area or other countries.
