Folks Games Project

Through folk games, children come to understand the environment due to the songs and games they practice and get involved in. Children's folk games reflect the inner life of the kids, their gifts and preferences. The Folk Games Project presents the idea for the project which has brought together students from Romania, Russia, Kazakhstan, the US, Latvia, Spain, Argentina, Italy, Lithuania, Uganda, Croatia, and more for sharing their favorite folks games across a range of categories, from 1) amusing/funny games, 2) songs dedicated to animals and plants, 3) games related to Nature's calendar: invoking rain, sun, rainbow, wind or driving away thunder or rain. 4) games related to the major events of human life, 5) tongue twisters. Through the project, participants have created a universal anthology with children's folk games, artwork and photographs, a recorded tape, as well as a Children's Folk Games web site. It's amazing!

The Folk Games Project was nominated as a Cable & Wireless Childnet International Finalist for 2000. Congratulations to Petru Dimitru and Duiliu Zamfirescu School in Romania
