iEARN
in Pakistan (continued)
"...it
was an eye-opening workshop because today I found a solid reason to
use the net and explore my potentials through presenting my thoughts
and ideas to the world" said a school head in a recent I*EARN (International
Education and Resource Network) workshop conducted at the monthly SHADES
(School Headteachers Association for Development of Educational Standards)
meeting in the Institute of Educational Development-IED.
Another teacher
reflected during a workshop organised at the Consulate General of USA
in Karachi, "The I*EARN project has opened up a whole new scenario
for all teachers where we can collaborate and produce and make students
think and produce better."
The internet
in school and at home will be goal oriented and children can share their
experiences globally. We are talking of cross cultures and a better
world with peace and contentment for all. Can there be a better way
than this?

iEARN
in Czech Republic
From Friday
6th to Sunday 8th April 2001 took place a national meeting of the I*EARN
organization in the south moravian town on the river Jihlava. Representatives
of Czech and Moravian schools took a part in the meeting.
The meeting
was officially started on Friday, where all participants met each other
and a program was carried out to the next afternoon. The activities
of I*EARN in the year 2000 were discussed on Saturday. Some facts discussed
were about international actions, among them for example, the Art camp
in Baja, Hungary, the international conference in Beijing, the visit
to the town Gy–ngy–s in Hungary in the scope the of project "My
town is your town" or ecological camp in Slovak Republic in Tatra.
There were also project presentations by the schools in which the students
took a part. For one international project mentioned was the Gymnazium
Teplice New Years wish and Czech project Motorism of Economical school
Svitavy, which has finished. Of the projects, which are still going
on, for example "All Our Country is Blooms" of Basic school
Borek, Fictional business corespondence Economy school Brno, Personalities
of Economy school »eskČ BudĎjovice and a project of Gymnazium Teplice
Communications.
But a person
is not alive only by work, so we all made a sight-seeing tour of the
town. The leaders were the students themselves. Everybody got a task
to prepare some interesting facts about some local monument. But we
also had an explanation by "professionals". We visited Westmoravian
Museum, Jewish synagogue and the St. Prokop's Dome.
On Sunday we
had to say goodbye to our new friends and go back home. The meeting
was enjoyed by all the student and teachers and they have only good
memories of it.
