The Education Department of the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, DC, announced that Honey Kern has been selected to be one of the twenty-two Mandel Teacher Fellows for 1997-1998.
The purpose of the Mandel Teacher Fellowship Program, supported by the Mandel Associated Foundations, and in its second year, is to develop a national corps of skilled secondary teachers who can serve as leaders in Holocaust education to their schools, communities, and professional organizations.
Those selected as Mandel Fellows demonstrated an extensive knowledge of successful teaching practices and showed evidence of professional community involvement with the teaching of the Holocaust. Honey was notified by the Holocaust Museum's education department and the Mandel fellowship director, Stephen Feinberg.
