By Katie Cox
Blue Ridge High School
I feel lost because I belong in the sky, not on their arm.
Humanity disintegrates before my eyes.
Some cry out their sorrows, while others scream their fears.
Many who gazed upon me, now curse and spit on me.
The smell of burning flesh claws my throat
And the taste lingers on.
I remain lost in this land of inhumanity
And I become part of it because I am their death warrant.
I, too, feel sorrow and fear.
They used to wish upon me, but now they're forced to wear me.
They used to wish.
