I*EARN's HGP Collaborates
with Facing History
and Ourselves

By Peter Copen
Founder of I*EARN

I*EARN (the International Education and Resource Network) and the Holocaust/Genocide Project (HGP) have entered into a draft agreement to collaborate with the organization Facing History and Ourselves (FHAO). The intention of this collaboration is to expand the impact and increase the quality of the I*EARN's HGP and FHAO experiences for teachers and their students around the world.

Facing History and Ourselves, based in Boston, Massachussetts, has been training teachers for over twenty years to infuse moral and ethical decision-making into their curriculum, using the Holocaust as a case study, with social action encouraged as a logical outcome of their curriculum.

I*EARN's HGP offers an already-established, global infrastructure, as well as extensive, on-line teacher materials and resources for teachers and youth who are committed to making a difference in the world through many "volunteer action" components.

This collaboration will offer new and meaningful opportunities to I*EARN's HGP teachers who wanted to take the FHAO trainings, and equal benefits to FHAO teachers who wanted to use I*EARN and the HGP to expand and enhance their work through telecommunications. Both organizations are looking forward to this very exciting, educational collaboration.
