Virtual Art Gallery Opens


Joanne Tate, teacher at Lake Bolac Secondary College, initiated a Global Holocaust Exhibit after returning from the Poland/Israel Study Mission. Her goal was to get schools from around the world to produce and send pieces of two-dimensional art work to each other by a set date. Jo posted a new topic on the <iearn.hgp> conference and students critiqued each other's works on-line.

The project, reported in the Fall issue of The Contemporary, was launched during Peace Week, and the ceremony included the planting of a Peace Rose, messages from three Holocaust survivors, the reading of peace messages from around the globe, and musical interludes. With help from Laura Thompson at Wendouree Secondary College, the virtual gallery was available for viewing on the World Wide Web at the following URL:
