Slovakia
Working with the Open Society Institute and the Soros Foundation
since 1995, iEARN has established an iEARN-Slovakia
Center in Kosice, Slovakia. Teacher training sessions have
been held in Slovakia throughout country, as well as an environmental
youth camp in Tatry, Slovakia involving 60 students from 12
countries. Peace Corps volunteers are active in iEARN projects
in a number of schools.
Slovenia
Working with the Open Society Institute and the Soros Foundation
since 1995, iEARN launched the iEARN-Slovenia
Center,
which is based in Ljubljana, and involves schools around the
country. Students and teachers often have leased or ISDN lines.
A number of iEARN projects are conducted in Slovenian.
Spain
iEARN
in Spain has been active since 1989 and is based in Callús
(Barcelona), Catalunya. iEARN-Pangea has
worked to involve schools in the region and has created a telecommunications
network called "Pangea" to
promote values like solidarity and cooperation and others through
the internet. iEARN-Pangea has also played a key role in mobilizing
schools to participate in collaborative telematic projects and,
at the same
time, motivate teachers and education staff to create new telematic
projects in order to educate to unit students that take part. The
projects are in different areas of the curriculum and values education.
iEARN-Pangea and the communities of Callús and
Manresa (near Barcelona) hosted the 1997
iEARN International Conference.
Sweden
iEARN includes a small number of schools in Sweden which are involved
in learning circles, publications and other projects.
Turkey
iEARN in Turkey is a teacher
and student-driven network representing all provinces in Turkey.
It originally evolved from work starting in 1990 after the Ministry
of National Education launched "the Computer Assisted Education
Project."
Ukraine
Working
with the Open Society Institute and the Soros Foundation, iEARN
created an iEARN program
in Ukraine in 1997, which is based in Kiev and Karkhov. Teacher
trainings have been held for new schools throughout the country.
Peace Corps volunteers are active in iEARN projects in a number
of schools.
United
Kingdom
iEARN-UK is a registered charity that works with young people
in schools, colleges and other youth organisations. Through projects
and
forums we aim to bring young people together to increase common
understanding; to share ideas and to celebrate cultural identity – similarities
and differences.
We can help you start an iEARN project and provide on-going support
in all aspects of your iEARN membership. In addition, we run
various types of in-house training for teachers and pupils – from
improving Key Skills to understanding our relationship within

Yugoslavia
iEARN is working with the Open Society Instute and individual
schools. Serbian schools are an integral part of the iEARN Balkan
Voices Project.
