Russian Team in Los Angeles
2002 PROGRAMS
1. A Planning Conference on Civic Education in Bekasovo,
Russia December 10-12, 2001. Down load a (pdf file) Report

2. A 5 day conference in Budapest January 29-February
2, 2002 and February 5-February 9, 2002. Down load a Schedule

3. A three-week seminar on civic education in Russia
conducted at Indiana University, Bloomington, in April 2002.
4. A 21 day study tour to the United States, April-May,
2002.
The program started with a week of Orientation
with Street Law, and then a week of programs with Close Up Foundation
in Washington DC. Country teams then participated in Site Visits, hosted

COUNTRY PLANS
Local implementation through December 31, 2002. During
the conference and site visits, countries developed plans to improve civic
education in their countries, which they are implementing. Plans include
workshops, professional development, translation of materials, policy

ON-LINE COLLABORATION
- DEEP participants have created a new iEARN Project: Facets
of Tolerance. They are also in the process of designing other projects
on such topics as: Three Wishes Story and Constitutional Comparisons.
- iEARN is also offering participating teachers a Russian Language On-line
course on integrating iEARN Civic Education projects into their classrooms.

- iEARN has created a number of forums to facilitate communication between
between consortium members and participants, and on-line project work
